IL CASINÒ DI SAN PELLEGRINO TERME: UN ‘ESPRESSIONE DELLA CREATIVITÀ E ARTIGIANALITÀ ITALIANA

Di recente ho avuto modo di scoprire un luogo dal fascino misterioso, il Casinò di San Pellegrino Terme, una delle massime espressioni dello stile Liberty della Lombardia.

Costruito agli inizi del Novecento, il Casinò nasce con lo scopo di allietare e intrattenere i suoi illustri ospiti che, al suo interno, potevano ascoltare musica, leggere e tentare la fortuna con il gioco d’azzardo. Le decorazione interne sono davvero ricche: i mosaici, le balaustre raffinate, le statue in bronzo che sorreggono le lampade, e i bellissimi lampadari in ferro battuto e vetro soffiato, sono stati realizzati con raffinatezza ed eleganza da rinomati artisti ed artigiani dell’epoca, e sopravvivono alle intemperie grazie al volere di un intraprendente e facoltoso industriale che ha deciso di far rivivere questo antico spazio per manifestazioni culturali, meeting, congressi, ricevimenti nuziali e perfino sfilate di moda. La sua vicinanza con le nuove Terme, del gruppo QC, lo rende anche un’attrazione turistica da visitare ad orari concordati. Il più del tempo questo spazio resta vuoto e silenzioso, e varcando la soglia si ha proprio la sensazione di entrare in un’altra epoca…

I recently had the opportunity to discover a place with a mysterious charm, the Casino (or rather the former Casino) of San Pellegrino Terme, one of the greatest expressions of Art Nouveau in Lombardy.

Built in the early twentieth century, the Casino was founded with the aim to cheer and entertain his illustrious guests. Inside they could listen to music, read and groped their luck with gambling. The interior decoration is very rich: the mosaics, the balustrades refined, the bronze statues that support the lamps, the beautiful wrought iron and blown glass chandeliers, they have been made with sophistication and elegance by renowned artists and craftsmen of the time, and they survive to the weather thanks to the will of an enterprising and wealthy industrialist who decided to revive this ancient space for cultural events, meetings, conferences, weddings and even fashion shows. Its proximity to the new Spa, the group Terme QC, also makes it a tourist attraction to visit at times agreed. Most of the time this space remains empty and silent, and crossing the threshold you really feel like entering another era…
