DESIGN IS MILANO IS DESIGN

Da qualche mese in città sono apparsi dei manifesti che recitano “Design is Milano is Design”. Li si può vedere in qualsiasi zona: sui palazzi, nelle strade, nelle metropolitane, sui mezzi pubblici. 
Certo, la dicitura suona un po’ strana, ma il suo significato no di certo: il design è Milano e Milano è il design. È da 60 anni che ad aprile gli appassionati e gli operatori del settore si ritrovano al Salone Internazionale del Mobile, dove ammirano le novità dell’industria dell’arredo e dei suoi complementi. Poi, negli ultimi anni si sono aggiunti il Fuorisalone prima e la Design Week poi, aprendo le porte del design anche ai “semplici” curiosi, in primis cittadini con il desiderio di scoprire luoghi della propria città che non avevano mai visto prima o che vengono riproposti con allestimenti inusuali. 
Sono decisamente curioso di vedere l’edizione del 2021, che inizia proprio in questi giorni (5-10 settembre)!

In the past few months, posters have appeared in any area of the city: on buildings, in the streets, in the subways, on public transport. “Design is Milano is Design”, they say.  
Of course, at least in Italian, the wording sounds a bit strange, but its meaning certainly does not: design is Milan and Milan is design. It’s been 60 years now that every April enthusiasts and workers of the sector gather at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, where they admire the novelties of the furniture industry. Then, in recent years Fuorisalone and Design Week opened the doors of design to simply curious people, primarily citizens with the desire to discover places in their city that they had never seen before or which are re-proposed with unusual settings.
I’m definitely curious to see the 2021 edition, which starts right now (5-10 September)!
