CASA MUSEO BAGATTI VALSECCHI

La Casa Museo Bagatti Valsecchi ha di per sé un fascino indescrivibile: una residenza privata di fine Ottocento in cui vissero due fratelli collezionisti. I baroni Fausto e Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi iniziarono a collezionare dipinti e manufatti d’arte applicata risalenti al periodo rinascimentale senza tralasciare la modernità della struttura, provvista sin da subito di riscaldamento, acqua corrente, luce elettrica. 

Abitata dagli eredi fino al 1974, è una delle case museo meglio conservate in Europa e una delle prime grandi espressioni del design italiano. 

La Fondazione Bagatti Valsecchi, che ora gestisce la casa, ha portato avanti lo spirito dei fratelli Valsecchi, continuando a ricercare aspetti di innovazione per la residenza. Nel 2010, infatti, si è rivolta a Metis Lighting per un progetto di illuminazione delle sale e dei soffitti decorati. Lo studio di lighting design ha proposto e realizzato un intervento che lasciasse la scena alla bellezza dell’arte e della cultura custodite in questo luogo. 

La Casa Museo Bagatti Valsecchi fa parte del Circuito delle Case Museo di Milano, che comprende anche Villa Necchi Campiglio, il Museo Poldi Pezzoli e la Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano.

The Bagatti Valsecchi House Museum has in itself an incredible charm: a private residence of the late nineteenth century in which two brothers lived. Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi began to collect paintings and artifacts of applied art from the Renaissance period without neglecting the modernity of the structure, immediately equipped with heating, running water, electric light.

Inhabited by the heirs until 1974, it is one of the best-preserved museum houses in Europe and one of the first great expressions of Italian design.

The Bagatti Valsecchi Foundation, which now manages the house, has carried on the spirit of the Valsecchi brothers, continuing to research aspects of innovation for the residence. In 2010 the Foundation turned to Metis Lighting for a lighting project for the rooms and the decorated ceilings. The lighting design studio proposed and created an intervention that would leave the scene to the beauty of the art and culture preserved in this place.

Bagatti Valsecchi House Museum is part of the Circuito delle Case Museo di Milano, the network of Milanese house museums, which also includes Villa Necchi Campiglio, the Poldi Pezzoli Museum and the Boschi di Stefano House Museum.
