IL MUSEO DI ARTE ISLAMICA DI DOHA: UN PUNTO DI RIFERIMENTO PER LA CULTURA MEDIORIENTALE

Il museo di arte islamica di Doha in Qatar (MIA), è un’imponente struttura creata dall’architetto cino-americano I.M. Pei.

Visitandone gli interni colpisce la qualità dell’esecuzione e la raffinatezza dei dettagli della pietra.

L’edificio, inaugurato nel 2008,  assomiglia a un’antica fortezza araba e sorge su un’isola artificiale bagnata dalle acque del golfo di Doha e circondata da imponenti palme. Al suo interno ospita la più grande collezione al mondo di oggetti artistici e reperti archeologici islamici provenienti dall’intero Medio Oriente.

Con questa opera, e con altre in costruzione, l’emiro del Qatar sta trasformando Doha in un polo regionale e internazionale per la cultura e l’istruzione.

The Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar (MIA), is an imposing structure created by the Chinese-American IM Pei.

Visiting the interior we have been impressed by the quality of the implementation and by the refinement of the details of the sophisticated stone.

The building, opened in 2008, looks like an old Moorish fortress and is located on an artificial island bathed by the waters of the Gulf of Doha and surrounded by towering palm trees. Inside it houses the largest collection in the world of art objects and archaeological finds from the entire Islamic Middle East. Visitors are affected by the quality of the implementation and by the refinement of the details of the sophisticated stone.

With this work, and with others under construction, the Emir of Qatar is transforming Doha into a regional and international center for culture and education.
